The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's (BMA) sport association, in collaboration with various partners, will host the first "Bang Na Running: Run for the Hospital" marathon event in January.

It aims to raise funds for acquiring medical equipment and facilities for the BMA Bangna Hospital, Dr Pijaya Nagavajra, president of the BMA's sport association and chairman of the BMA Bangna Hospital Foundation, said at a press conference.

Scheduled for Jan 14, 2024, the event will take place at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Bitec).

It is jointly organised by the BMA Bangna Hospital Foundation, Bang Na district office, Bang Na police station and private companies.

Participants can choose from three race categories: a half marathon (21.1km), a mini marathon (10km) and a fun run (5km).

The registration fees are 850 baht, 750 baht and 500 baht respectively.

Individuals with disabilities can participate in the fun run for free.

The race will unfold along Debaratna Road in front of the Bitec.

Every participant completing the race will receive a medal of honour.

Additionally, the top performers in the 21.1km and 10km races will receive the trophies graciously donated by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

For the fiscal year 2024, the hospital has received a budget of 2.45 billion baht for the construction a new building.

However, additional funds are needed for medical facilities and equipment.
