GOLF TIPS

Here are a couple of swing points that every golf coach must explain over and over again.

The first is that very few players actually see the ball when they hit it.

Even Ben Hogan stated that he lost sight of the ball somewhere during his downswing.

The second is that the hand position at address should be towards the inside of your left thigh on every shot except the driver.

With the driver the hands would be best placed slightly back so that it encourages hitting on the upswing.

The driver, the putter and the wedge are the most important clubs in your bag.

Why? Because you hit the driver roughly 14 times during a round.

A putt of five-foot counts one stroke. That's the same as a 280-yard drive straight down the middle, but the putt may be much more significant to your score.

Psychologically, the driver is very important as a good drive will fill you with confidence yet equally sinking a few putts will fill you with confidence.

If you can land the ball close to the hole every time whether from 120 yards away, or by the side of the green, it will greatly assist you in returning a good score.

Out of Bounds: Your playing partners never see the harm that you are doing to your score, because all you need is a fake smile to cover up a wounded golfing spirit.
