Mixed doubles duo Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai moved into the quarter-finals of the US$1 million China Masters yesterday.

The fifth-seeded Thais rallied to defeat Lee Chun Hei and Ng Tze Yau of Hong Kong 14-21, 21-18, 21-8 at Shenzhen Bay Gymnasium.

They will face Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong in the last eight of the World Tour Super 750 event.

The Hong Kong pair edged Ye Hong-wei and Lee Chia-hsin of Taiwan 15-21, 21-11, 21-13.

Men's singles fourth seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand bowed out after losing to Kenta Nishimoto of Japan 15-21, 23-21, 10-21.

Nishimoto will face Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia in the quarter-finals today.

Women's doubles Benyapa Aimsaard and Nuntakarn Aimsaard also exited the tournament after they lost to Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara of Japan 11-21, 11-21.

Women's top seed An Se-Young of South Korea suffered a shock upset at the hands of Wang Zhiyi of China, losing 12-21, 16-21.

Fourth seed Tai Tzu-ying of Taiwan retired in the third game of her match against Zhang Yiman of China.

Nguyen Thuy Linh of Vietnam continued her amazing run with a 22-20, 21-12 victory over Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt of Denmark.

She knocked out fifth seed Carolina Marin of Spain in the first round on Wednesday.

Men's second seed Anthony Ginting also bowed out, losing to Lin Chun-yi of Taiwan 18-21, 17-21.

In other results yesterday, men's third seed Kodai Naraoka of Japan defeated Anders Antonsen of Denmark 21-19, 12-21, 21-19 while Kim Ga-Eun of South Korea defeated Aya Ohori of Japan 21-10, 21-18 in the women's singles.
