Ratchaburi finally ended their decade-long winless streak against Chiang Rai United in an emphatic manner when they trounced the Beetles 3-0 in a Thai League 1 home game on Friday night.

A first-half penalty, awarded following a handball by the Beetles's Diego Landis, put the hosts on course for the big win after Martin Njiva converted it with ease.

The Dragons were the better side after the break as well and Njiva picked up his second goal of the night with a strike in the 50th minute.

Ratchaburi got their third goal during the three-minute injury time from Faiq Bolkiah.

Ratchaburi coach Carlos Pena was full of praise for his men after the match.

"It was a great performance. Everyone played according to the plan. Every player did a good job today.

"However, we need to build on this and keep working hard."

The result helped Ratchaburi improve their tally to 15 points from 12 games so far. Former champions Chiang Rai remain one point above Ratchaburi but have a game in hand.

It was the Dragons's first victory over Chiang Rai United in the league in 10 years.

In the other match on Friday night, hosts Uthai Thani could only manage a point after a goalless draw with Sukhothai.
