BG Pathum's Teerasil Dangda, centre, celebrates his goal against Port.

Teerasil Dangda scored a late brace to help former champions BG Pathum United rally from a two-goal deficit and edge hosts Port 3-2 in an entertaining Thai League 1 tussle on Saturday night.

Port took the lead after 26 minutes when Suphanan Burirat found the net with a sizzling strike.

The hosts added another to their tally five minutes later when a shot from Pakorn Prempak was deflected by Pathum defender Victor Cardozo, leaving their goalkeeper Kittipong Phootaechuek in no position to ward off the ball.

The Rabbits put on a much better display after the break but it was an entertaining 20-minute spell at the end that changed everything.

Freddy Alvarez gave the Rabbits the hope in the 75th minute before Kevin Deeromram was caught handling the ball by the VAR eight minutes later, allowing Teerasil to convert from the spot. Teerasil then claimed the winner in the seven-minute injury time.

Port coach Rangsan Vivatchaichok said: "It was a disappointing performance by the team. We did very well during the first half and after we scored two goals, we thought we would win easily.

"But then midfielder Noboru Shimura got injured in the second half and that was the turning point."

In another match on Saturday night, hosts Police Tero lost to Trat 3-1.
