Priority should always be downswing not backswing

Don't allow any negative thoughts enter your head

If you don't play well today, don't worry about it.

If you play rubbish once again on your next round, take a step back and check the fundamentals of grip, stance, alignment and ball position.

If you play poorly for a third time in a row, contemplate taking a lesson.

There's a slight myth on what the right elbow should do during the golf swing, but the emphasis should be on the downswing not backswing.

You see golfers sticking a towel under their right armpit which results in their right elbow looking though it's practically strapped to their body.

This results in a swing looking short and flat. Allow your right elbow to go back freely but return to your side when you start back to the ball.

When you are standing over the ball you should just pull the trigger and let it go, in other words try and shut out all thoughts other than picking out a target whilst refusing to allow any negative thoughts enter your head.

A high handicapper will be surprised at how often the mind will make the muscles hit the ball to the target, even with far less than a perfect swing.

The better player won't be surprised and expects to hit the target.

Out of Bounds: The worst golfer in the world is the one who complains about everything and appreciates nothing. The unhappy, negative soul who is quick to find fault with even the best of intentions.
