Thailand midfielder Sarach Yooyen on Sunday claimed that the War Elephants were in good spirits as they continued their preparations for the Asian Cup Group F opener against Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday.

Thailand will later take on Oman and former champions Saudi Arabia with the top two from each of the six groups reaching the last 16, along with the four best third-placed teams.

Coach Masatada Ishii split the squad into two and put full tactics to use in a practice session on Saturday night.

Thailand have no injury worries and Sarach said: "Right now, every player is nearly 100% ready for the first match and everyone is eager to play in this competition.

"We need to get used to weather here but everyone is in good spirits.

"Our goal in this tournament is to qualify for the knockout phase and I will try my best to help the team advance as far as they can. Every player has the same target.

"Every team in the group is strong but we have to accept that Saudi Arabia are the group favourites.

"It would all depend on how well we start against Kyrgyzstan.

"This is a major Asian event and every player is keen to put in best effort."

Meanwhile, Consadole Sapporo attacking midfielder Supachok Sarachat added that the team "should be in perfect shape" before Tuesday's opening match.

"I have worked with Ishii at Buriram United... he is a very good coach," said Supachok.

"He pays a lot attention to details. He also makes an extra effort make players understand every bit of his plan.

"We have the confidence but I think we have to accept that we are not in the same league as the top Asian teams.

"However, we have the ability to put up a fight and that is what we are going to do here in this tournament.

"We are very keen to leave a lasting impression on everyone and I hope we will succeed in doing that."
