Ratchanok Intanon bowed out in the quarter-finals of the US$420,000 BWF Indonesia Masters in Jakarta on Friday.

The Thai star was beaten by Natsuki Nidaira of Japan 16-21, 12-21 in the women's singles event.

Nidaira will play fellow Japanese Nozomi Okuhara in the semi-finals on Saturday.

Okuhara eliminated fifth seed Gregoria Tunjung 22-20, 21-11.

Women's doubles hopes Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai made it to the last four but needed three games to beat Li Wenmei and Liu Xuanxuan of China 18-21, 21-17, 21-10.

They will face sixth seeds Zhang Shuxian and Zheng Yu of China in the semi-finals.

Also yesterday, Chinese fourth seed He Bingjiao defeated sixth seeded compatriot Han Yue 21-15, 18-21, 21-10 to reach the women's singles semi-finals.

She will next play another Chinese Wang Zhiyi, the eighth seed, in the last four on Saturday.

In the mixed doubles event, Chinese top seeds Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong played another three-game match as they rallied to beat Tan Kian Meng and Lai Pei Jing of Malaysia 18-21, 21-18, 21-13.

Hiroki Midorikawa and Natsu Saito of Japan also needed three games to defeat third seeds Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin of China 13-21, 21-16, 21-17.

Men's singles world champion and sixth seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn was due to face Kiran George of India later last night.
