Thailand striker Supachai Chaided bagged a brace on Sunday night to give Thai League 1 leaders Buriram United's new coach Jorginho a win in his first game in charge of the northeastern giants.

Supachai struck in the 18th and 61st minutes to secure a 2-1 home victory over former champions Chiang Rai United, who had levelled through Rodriguinho after 28 minutes.

Jorginho said he was happy to have started on a winning note.

"We got three important points and I am very happy for this victory because I have been with the team for only five days," said the former Brazil international.

"We had to change tactics, so the players had to make an extra effort to get used to the new style of play.

"My first game as a coach in the Thai league today was really fantastic. It is not just good inside the venue, the atmosphere around Buriram city is really great."

Meanwhile, hosts Bangkok United, who have a game in hand, kept Buriram in sight in the title race as they showed struggling Chonburi no mercy, thrashing the ten-man Sharks 6-0 on Sunday night.

Bangkok United scorers were Bassel Jradi (19), Willen Mota (48, 66), Peerapat Notechaiya (51), Tassanapong Muaddarak (87) and Thossawat Limwannasatian (91).

Chonburi were left with ten men on the pitch when Phitak Pimpae was sent off for elbowing Peerapat in the 82nd minute.

It's Phitak's second red card this year after being sent off during a game with Sukhothai in February.

Also on Sunday night, Muang Thong United tamed Police Tero 3-1 at their home ground and hosts Khon Kaen United captured three points after edging Nakhon Pathom United 2-1.
