Mixed doubles stars Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai cruised into the second round of the BWF Toyota Thailand Open at Nimibutr Stadium on Tuesday.

The top-seeded Thai pair stormed past Kim Young-Hyuk and Lee Yu-Lim of South Korea 21-17, 21-10 in the first round of the mixed doubles competition at the US$420,000 World Tour Super 500 event.

They will play either Roy King Yap and Valeree Siow of Malaysia or Lui Chun Wai and Fu Chi Yan of Hong Kong in the last 16.

Sapsiree could join Indonesia's Susi Susanti and Greysia Polii as winners with the most titles at the tournament -- four -- if she secures the mixed doubles crown alongside Dechapol this week.

Another mixed doubles pair Ruttanapak Oupthong and Jhenicha Sudjaiprarat fought back to clinch their place in the last 16.

The Thai pair rallied to knock out third seeds Goh Son Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai of Malaysia 19-21, 21-17, 21-13.

They will next play the winners of the match between Wei Chun-wei and Nicole Gonzales Chan of Taiwan and Adnan Maulana and Nita Violina Marwah of Indonesia.

Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul became the third Thai player in the men's singles main draw after coming through the qualifying round on Tuesday.

The 86th-ranked Thai rising star will play China's Zhao Junpeng in the first round.

He joined defending champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn and Kantaphon Wangcharoen in the 32-player com- petition.

A successful title defence for fourth seed Kunlavut, meanwhile, will make the 23-year-old the first Thai singles player to win back-to-back titles.

Pitchamon Opatniputh reached the women's singles main draw after defeating Lin Sih-yun of Taiwan 21-13, 21-16 in Tuesday's qualifying match. She will face Kaoru Sugiyama of Japan in her opener.

She joined other Thai hopes Ratchanok Intanon, Pornpawee Chuchowong, Supanida Katethong, Busanan Ongbamrungphan and Pornpicha Choeikeewong in the round of 32 of the women's singles event.

Men's doubles pair Chaloempon Charoenkitamorn and Thanawin Madee also qualified and will play Kim Young-Hyuk and Wang Chan of South Korea in the first round.
