Thailand are still looking for their first victory after three matches in Week 1 of the FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League 2024 at the Maracanazinho stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Saturday (Sunday morning, Thai time).

Thailand lost their third straight game in Pool 2, going down to Canada 3-1 (25-21, 25-13, 20-25, 25-17).

They lost to Olympic champions United States in the opening match on Wednesday and fell to world champions Serbia on Friday.

Just like the opening match against the Americans on Wednesday, Thailand took a set off their opponents but the in-form Canadians proved too strong as they claimed their third successive win of the opening week.

Outside hitter Chatchu-On Moksri was again Thailand's top scorer in the match with 16 points (15 kills, one ace), another outside hitter Wipawee Srithong had 10 points (nine kills, one block) while opposite Pimpichaya Kokram scored nine (nine kills).

Blocking was the biggest difference between the teams in the match. While Canada registered 13, Thailand produced just one — the winners also led in aces by five to three.

The Canadians got to celebrate a win for a third-straight day after victories against the Dominican Republic and China on Thursday and Friday respectively.

Opposite hitter Kiera Van Ryk was Canada’s top scorer with 22 points (21 kills, one block). Middle blocker Emily Maglio, with 14 points, and outside hitter Alexa Gray, with 13, also got to double digits in scoring.
