The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) confirmed yesterday that the League Cup and FA Cup finals will be played after the national team’s World Cup qualifiers against China and Singapore on June 6 and 11.

The FAT had earlier announced that the League Cup final between BG Pathum United and Muang Thong United would be played on May 30 and the FA Cup decider between Bangkok United and Dragon Pathumwan Kanchanaburi FC would take place on June 1.

The postponement is to accommodate the national team’s preparation for the two remaining Group C games of the Asian zone qualifiers for the 2026 Fifa World Cup against China on June 6 in Shenyang and Singapore on June 11 in Bangkok.

Thailand are third with four points from four games in Group C, three behind second-placed China. South Korea are on top with 10 points while Singapore are bottom with one point.

The top two finishers in each of the nine groups advance to the third and final stage of the Asian qualifying tournament.

Teerasil returns

Veteran forward Teerasil Dangda has returned to the national team after coach Masatada Ishii announced a list of 27 national players for the two World Cup qualifiers yesterday.

The 35-year-old BG Pathum forward last played for Thailand in the World Cup qualifier against Singapore in November last year.

There are also two new faces in the team as Lamphun Warriors midfielder Akkrapong Poomwiset and Uthai Thani midfielder Airfan Doloh received their first call-ups. There is no place in the team for Kawin Thamsatchanan as Somporn Yos has been selected ahead of the Muang Thong goalkeeper.

The players will begin their training camp next Wednesday after the Thai League 1 season ends on Sunday. The team will travel to China on June 2.
