Buriram United capped their successful defence of the Thai League 1 crown with an 8-2 hammering of Khon Kaen United in their last match of the season on Sunday night.

The Thunder Castle, who received the league trophy from Football Association of Thailand president Nualphan Lamsam at their home ground, ended the campaign with 69 points.

Buriram and Thailand striker Supachai Supachai bagged the top-scorer award following a brilliant hat-trick which took his tally to 21 goals.

Dion Cools (12), Supachai (19, 55 and 86), Guilherme Bissoli (39, 62), Theerathon Bunmathan (69) and Thanakrit Chotmuangpak (90+3) were on target for the hosts on Sunday night.

In the other matches on Sunday night, Chiang Rai United lost 3-2 to Muang Thong United, hosts Ratchaburi FC defeated PT Prachuap 3-0 and BG Pathum United picked up three points by beating Police Tero 4-2.

Elsewhere, hosts Port finished the season with a 6-0 thrashing of Nakhon Pathom, Chonburi rallied to defeat Trat 3-2, Bangkok United routed Uthai Thani 3-0 and Sukhothai lost 3-0 at home to Lamphun Warriors.

Meanwhile, Thailand were placed in a tough Group B with Brazil, Cuba and Croatia for the Fifa Futsal World Cup finals. The event will take place in Uzbekistan from Sept 14-Oct 6.
