Thai star Pornpawee Chochuwong booked her berth in the women's singles semi-finals of the US$850,000 BWF Singapore Open yesterday.
Pornpawee stunned third seed Carolina Marin 21-19, 21-16 to make it to the last four of the World Tour Super 750 event.
Her victory followed her upset win over sixth seed Han Yue of China in the last 16 on Thursday.
Pornpawee will play second seed Chen Yufei in the semi-finals after the Chinese star ousted fifth seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan 21-8, 21-12 in the other quarter-finals.
Top seed An Se-Young of South Korea also progressed after beating Japan's Nozomi Okuhara 21-12, 21-12.
She will face Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of Indonesia, who upset seventh seed Wang Zhiyi of China 21-13, 13-21, 24-22, in the last four.
In the men's singles event, China's second seed Shi Yuqi battled past Japan's fifth seed Kodai Naraoka 17-21, 21-12, 23-21. Shi will take on Chou Tien-chen of Taiwan in the semi-finals. Chou defeated Kenta Nishimoto of Japan 21-17, 21-13.
In the mixed doubles event, fourth seeds Seo Seung-Jae and Chae Yu-Jung of South Korea knocked out Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei of Malaysia 21-14, 21-18 and Mads Vestergaard and Christine Busch of Denmark defeated Robin Tabeling and Selena Piek of the Netherlands 21-15, 13-21, 22-20.
Vestergaard and Busch had beaten Thai pair Supak Jomkoh and Supisaara Paewsampran in the last 16 on Thursday.
