Thai BMX cyclist Komet Sukprasert claimed his third straight Asian title after winning the men’s elite event of the Asian BMX Continental Championships at Kamol Sports Park in Nong Chok yesterday.

Suphan Buri’s Komet, wearing the No.243 jersey, crossed the finish line with a time of 34.853 seconds to complete a hat-trick of Asian titles following his victories in 2022 and 2023.

Second place went to the Philippines’ Patrick Bren Coo with a time of 36.749 seconds and the third place was taken by Japan’s Ryo Shimada in 36.923 seconds.

“I am very happy to win the race for the Thai people. I hope they will cheer for me at the Olympic Games. After this, I will keep on training hard. I have to put more speed on the track,” said Komet, who has already qualified for the Olympic Games in Paris.

Japan’s Jui Yabuta won the women’s elite event. Indonesia’s Amellya Nur Sifa and Thailand’s Chutikan Kitwanitsathian were second and third, respectively.

In the men’s U23 event, Apisit Jaiyoo took third place with a time of 38.033 secs. The first place was won by Indonesia’s Rafelino Rahendra in 37.543 secs and Japan’s Hyoga Kiuchi picked up the second place in 37.787 secs.

Putthaphum Nakpaen, 17, won the men’s junior event in 36.858 secs, ahead of Korean Hong Juho. Japan’s Kishi Ryunosuke came third.
