Chang beer signs Madrid deal

Chang beer and Real Madrid have launched a new sponsorship agreement after Thai Beverage Plc and the Spanish club signed a contract on Monday.

Real Madrid ambassador Emilio Brutageno is flanked by ThaiBev executives Matthew Kichodhan and Sorrakit Lathitham.

The signing ceremony for the three-year, 500 million baht deal took place at the team's Bernabeu stadium.

ThaiBev was represented by its executives Matthew Kichodhan and Sorrakit Lathitham while Emilio Brutageno, the club's ambassador, authorised the deal for the La Liga giants.

"We are the first Thai company to sign a sponsorship deal with Real Madrid," Matthew said.

"The deal was done just two months after we started talking."

He said the move would help push football development in Thailand and could lead to Thai players starring for Real Madrid in the future.

Sorrakit said the company would hold several marketing events and take Thai fans to Spain to watch Real Madrid play.

Former Real striker Brutageno said the club wanted to extend its fanbase in Asian countries including Thailand.

Madrid last visited Thailand for a friendly seven years ago and Brutageno said Real were likely to return to the kingdom next year.

ThaiBev will further strengthen their La Liga links when they sign a sponsorship contract with Madrid rivals Barcelona tomorrow.
