Thrilled Patcharajutar victorious in first Singha-SAT Thai LPGA meet at Panya

Patcharajutar Kongkrapan fired a three-under-par 69 in the final round to win by three strokes at the first Singha-SAT Thai LPGA tournament at Panya Golf Club yesterday.

Overnight joint leader Patcharajutar made four birdies against a lone bogey in the three-day event to claim her third Thai LPGA title on 207.

Thidapa Suwannapura (68) was second on 210, one shot ahead of Thanaporn Kongkiatkrai (66). Overnight co-leader Rungthiwa Pangjan suffered a 76 to share fourth with Thitiya Pluckstaporn (73) on 214.

The 20-year-old Patcharajutar said that the triumph was a big boost before she joins the US Women's Open qualifying next month.

Before flying to the US, she will play in the Thai LPGA Tour's second event of the season and in China next month.

She received 71,900 baht in prize money. The amateur title went to Suchaya Tangkamolprasert who shot a 69 for 218.

Thailand finish sixth

Thailand finished sixth at the 34th Queen Sirikit Cup at Tanah Merah Country Club's Garden Course in Singapore yesterday.

Pinrat Loomboonruang, Supamas Sangchan and Savitree Thavong scored 446 in the 13-nation, 54-hole tournament.

The winners were South Korea who won their fifth straight title and 15th overall with a total score of 413.

New Zealand were second on 438 and Australia third on 440.

South Korea's Kim Hyo-Joo (204) won the individual title. Highly-rated Lydia Ko of New Zealand (210) was second and Kyu Jung Baek (211), another Korean, third.

The best Thai was Pinrat who was 10th on 224. Savitree was 17th on 228 and Supamas 28th on 234.
