Boxing legend Khaosai weds again

Sohla Saenghom, ring name Khaosai Galaxy, married for the third time on Friday in Nakhon Si Thammarat with a woman 17 years his junior.

An image taken from Facebook shows boxing legend Khaosai Galaxy and his bride Sawannapa Kumboonsri exchanging vows.

Khaosai and Sawannapa Kumboonsri, 36, had been dating for three years. Suwannapa, a Nakhon Si Thammarat resident, works for a foreign company as a hotel inspector.

The former WBA super flyweight champion was previously married to a Japanese woman named Yumiko Ota and a Thai woman named Surirat Saenkum.

Khaosai's latest marriage surprised many people because it was not made public until after the simple and low-key ceremony.

Niwat Laosuwanwat, a former promoter and manager of Khaosai, said he had only just learned about Khaosai's marriage.

"From my observation, the bride is a career woman, educated, has a good personality and can take better care of Khaosai than his other former wives," Mr Niwat said.

Khaosai was renowned for his powerful left hand, "the left hand that drills intestines". He successfully defended his WBA title 19 times, 16 of those being knockouts. He was inducted to the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1999.

After he retired from boxing, the former world champion tried his hand at property development, as well as politics and acting.
