Fast-finishing Pavarisa surges home to win fifth leg of Thai LPGA Championship

Pavarisa Yoktuan won the fifth leg of the Singha-SAT Thai LPGA Championship 2014 yesterday.

With a two-stroke advantage after two rounds, Pavarisa fired a final 63 to win the title on a 17-under 199 total at Bangkok’s par-72 Panya Indra Golf Club.

The Nakhon Si Thammarat native, who was crowned the tour’s money winner last year, took home 71,900 baht from a total purse of 500,000
baht.

The runners-up were Pimpadsorn Sangkhagaro (68) and Cyna Rodriguez of the Philippines (68) on 206.

Making 10 birdies against a lone bogey in the final round, Pavarisa said she was proud of her performance especially in the final round.

“I am back to my form and my putting is good now,” she said.

“I have been working hard and I will try to get an LPGA Tour card later this year.”

Sherman Santiwiwattanapong finished fourth on 209 in her professional debut following her final 67.

Nontaya Srisawang posted a 71 for 213. She shared eighth place overall with Preenaphan Poomklay, 18, who also took the amateur title after she made a 70 in the final round.

Hua Hin-born Preenaphan has been in good form since winning two gold medals at the National Games in Suphan Buri earlier this year.

The sixth leg of the Singha-SAT Thai LPGA Championship 2014 will be held in Hua Hin from May 12-14.
