Benyapa wins Thai LPGA title

Amateur golfers swept the top-five places at the seventh event of the Singha-SAT Thai LPGA Championship 2014 at Black Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin yesterday.

Benyapa Niphatsopon, 16, took a wire-to-wire victory after shooting a seven-under-par 65 in the final round yesterday for 198.

Benyapa, who is expected to represent the country in the Asian Games later this year, made four birdies in the final four holes.

Pitsaon Chaichompoo (69) and Supamas Sangchan (69) were tied for second on 208, one shot ahead of Pimnipa Panthong (70).

Pathamaporn Ariyamatepreecha (69) was fifth on 210.

Pennapa Pulsawath was the best professional golfer who took the winner’s cheque of 71,900 baht.

She came in sixth on 211 following a final 72.

Benyapa is the third amateur to win on the Thai LPGA Tour this year with the others being Busabakorn Sukhpah and Pajaree Anannaruekarn.
