Khon Kaen-born Parinda made a one-under-par 71 in the final round to win the title on 211 at Royal Hill Golf Resort and Spa.

Budsabakorn Sukapan (67) and Supamas Saengchan (71), who were in the Thai squad that won gold at last year’s Asian Games, shared second place on 212 with Pavarisa Yoktuan (71) who won the season opener. The trio took home 74,417 baht each while amateur Parinda won the trophy.

Pathamaporn Ariyamatepreecha (69) finished fifth while amateur Princess Superal of the Philippines (74) shared ninth place.

The 18-year-old Parinda, who yesterday made three birdies and two bogeys, said she played well on a difficult course.

“I am happy to win my first Thai LPGA title," she said. “I hope I win more before I go to further my studies in the US."

The next Thai LPGA event is the Bangchak Thai LPGA Open at Bangkok Panya Indra Golf Club from July 1-3.

In Williamsburg, Joanna Klatten grabbed seven birdies in a six-under-par 65 on Thursday to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the LPGA Kingsmill Championship.

Klatten finished the day one stroke in front of Pat Hurst, Alison Lee and Morgan Pressel. Thailand’s PK Kongkraphan shot a 69 to stay four shots off the lead. Defending champion Lizette Salas struggled to a 74.

US Women’s Open champion Michelle Wie withdrew with a hip injury after shooting a 78.
