Thailand earns draw with Iraq

Thailand kept their World Cup hopes alive when they rallied from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Iraq in a qualifier at Rajamangala National Stadium on Tuesday night.

Iraq raced to a 2-0 lead through Justin Meram (34th minute) and Younis Mahmoud (48).

Theerathon Bunmathan (80) and Mongkol Tossakrai (83) scored late to earn a point for Thailand in Group F of the second qualifying round for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Thailand leads the group with seven points from three games while Iraq has four points from two matches.

The eight group winners plus four best second-placed teams advance to the third qualifying round.
