Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva are politicians people polled like most, according to Abac Poll’s results released on Sunday.
The pollsters conducted a political survey from Dec 20 to 31, asking opinion from 2,149 people in Bangkok and other 16 provinces.
Asked which government politicians they like most, 77.7 per cent of the respondents said Ms Yingluck, followed by Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung (13.9 per cent), according to Abac Poll.
On the opposition side, 74.9 per cent said they liked Mr Abhisit the most, followed by Rak Prathet Thai Party Leader Chuwit Kamolvisit (16.7 per cent).
On the question about their wishes for the New Year, 82.9 per cent of the polled people said peace and reconciliation, 73.5 per cent of them wanted the government to implement the promised populist policies, particularly the 300 daily minimum wage, 15,000 baht starting salary for university graduates and credit card for farmers.
A total of 62.8 per cent hoped the economy would be better and 60.1 said they look for social justice and equality, Abac Poll said.
