11 more PAD members indicted

Eleven more leading members of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) were indicted on Thursday in the Criminal Court in connection with the seizure of Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports in 2008.

They are actor Saranyu Wongkrachang, Surawich Viravan (director of ASTV television station), Sarocha Porn-udomsak, Panthep Puapongphan, Yuthiyong Limlertwathee, Jindarat Charoenchaichana, Termsak Jarupan, Wassmon Changpreecha, Sunan Srichantra, Kamonporn Vorakul and Chatchawal Chatisuthichai.

They have been charged with terrorism, violation of the emergency decree, and illegal assembly of more than 10 people to cause unrest in the country.

The prosecutors charged that the PAD defendants led a large number of supporters to occupy the two airports between Nov 24 and Dec 3, 2008 in violation of the emergency decree.

The court set April 29 for the first hearing.

They were each released on 600,000 baht bail.

There are altogether 141 defendants in this case.  The prosecutors have so far indicted 56 of them - 31 in the first group, 14 in the second group, and 11 in the third group.

Those in the first group included PAD core members Sondhi Limthongkul, Maj-Gen Chamlong Srimuang, Pibhop Dhongchai, Somsak Kosaisuk, Suriyasai Katasila, Somkiat Pongpaiboon, Samran Rodphet and Sirichai Mai-ngam.
