Man falls to death from train

PATHUM THANI -- An unidentified man fell to his death from a Bangkok-Chiang Mai train in Khlong Luang district on Sunday night, police said.

Sathorn Jongrakjit, the stationmaster at Chiang Rak, said he was informed a man fell from train No.102 about 7.53pm while it was passing behind the Rangsit campus of Thammasat University at moo 8 village in tambon Khlong Nueng.

Police and rescue workers from Ruam Katanyu Foundation, accompanied by a doctor from Thammasat University, found a man aged 45-50 lying dead, facedown in the waterfilled canal alongside the railway track.

He was wearing a pair of red shorts and a white T-shirt.  No cash or identification documents were found on him.

Pol Capt Atthapol Joralee, deputy chief investigator of Khlong Luang police, said the dead man would be sent to the Forensic Science Institute of Thammasat University for examination.
