A fund totalling 20 billion baht will be set up to help small- and medium-sized enterprises, Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak said on Monday.
Mr Sokmid said the fund was a part of the government's plan to help small and medium firms cope with changes.
Industry Minister Uttama Savanayana said the fund will be administerd by the Industry Ministry and it will be on the agenda for cabinet approval on Tuesday.
The fund would be set up after formal approval by cabinet, Mr Uttama said.
The focus of the fund will be on startups with business potential, SMEs needingr capital to upgrade their operation and move away from labour-intensitve production, and small and medium companies that need help getting out of a sales slump and in danger of collapse, which could have consequences for the economy, he said.
