Most northern provinces can expect summer storms until Sunday, the Meteorological Department warned on Saturday.

The department said storms were possible in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Kamphaeng Phet, Lampang, Lamphun, Mae Hong Son, Phayao, Phichit, Sukhothai and Tak provinces on Sunday.

Summer storms, however, have lost their steam in the central, eastern and northeastern regions, it added.

Storms have ravaged all areas of the country except the South this week. From Wednesday through Friday, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department reported one death and 4,819 houses damaged.

Phrae suffered the most with 1,232 houses damaged or destroyed, with Ang Thong second with 1,031 houses damaged, it added.
