E-cigarette sellers busted in Hat Yai

SONGKHLA: Two Thais and two Malaysians were arrested and electronic cigarettes and smoking kits worth one million baht seized during a raid on two condominium units in Hat Yai on Saturday.

Police raided the two rooms on the 12th floor of the luxury condominium on Pasawang Road in Hat Yai municipality following a tip-off that banned e-cigarettes and accessories were being sold there.

The search found three e-cigarettes, 3,201 bottles of e-cigarette solution and 122 atomizers. The items, with a face value of one million baht, were seized.

Two Thais -- Pathomporn Khongchai and Siripa Manson, 24 -- and two Malaysian men -- Lim Khoo Boo Kean, 21, and Chan Kien Yee, 26 -- were apprehended on charges of illegally selling electronic cigarettes and liquid, Thai media reported.

Police said the items had been smuggled into the country and kept in the condominium units for sale to customers who placed orders via Facebook. The accused were said to have had many regular customers for the products, which cannot be sold legally in Thailand.
