Thai police will wear the same shade of khaki uniforms within three months following a royal initiative on a standard colour, according to police chief Chakthip Chaijinda.

Police have been wearing different shades of khaki as they individually have them made by different tailors and the colours depend on the availability of fabric.

The standard shade will likely be adopted nationwide in three months if there is enough fabric, said Gen Chakthip.

The police chief sports the standard colour at the headquarters in Bangkok on Monday.

“Today, I’m wearing the new uniform with the correct shade of khaki, the same colour as the sample His Majesty the King gave us. The new shade, called 'Sor Nor Wor 01' is now being worn by all commanding officers,” he said.

For the rank and file, Gen Chakthip said guidelines were being laid down and a budget set aside to cover the cost of the new uniforms. “Currently, we already have a uniforms budget for non-commissioned officers,” he added.
