NARATHIWAT: A 51 year-old woman whose husband was killed by insurgents three years ago was shot dead in Rangae district on Friday morning.
Armeenoh Yuso, of Narathiwat, was attacked and killed as she was going to work on Rueso-Ngi Ngo Road in Ban Ar Pa in Moo 1 of tambon Maruebo Tok.
Police called to the scene about 7.30am said they found her dead on the road beside a Honda Wave motorcycle with a Narathiwat licence plate.
She sustained two gunshot wounds, to her right torso and back. Another bullet hole was found in the left handlebar of her bike. Her body was sent to Rangae Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
No evidence pointing to the killers was found at the scene.
An initial investigation found Armeenoh was attacked by two men on a motorcycle after she departed from her house in Rueso district for work in Rangae district.
As she approached Ban Ar Pa the pillion rider fired three bullets at her and the two men sped away.
The victim tried to ride her bike to the village about 100 metres from the scene to seek help, but collapsed and died before reaching it.
Authorities suspected insurgents were behind the attack.
In 2015, Armeenoh’s husband, who was assistant village chief of Ban Thai Suk, was also shot dead in Rueso district.
