Villager shot dead after returning from Pattani mosque

PATTANI: A civilian was gunned down in front of his house shortly after returning from a village mosque for prayers in Kapho district late Monday night.

The fatal shooting occurred at Village Moo 3 in tambon Plonghoi, said Pol Lt Thaweesak Suwanno, deputy investigation chief at Kapho police station. The incident was reported at 10.05pm on Monday.

Faisal Mudor, 29, was found dead in front of his house with a gunshot wound to his left chest.  A police investigation found that the victim was returning by motorcycle from a mosque in the village when he was attacked.

Police were investigating to determine whether the attack was motivated by the on-going southern unrest or a personal conflict.
