A problem at an electricity plant in Laos caused a brief power cut in some parts of the country on Friday afternoon, including Bangkok, according to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.
Egat deputy governor Saharath Boonpotipukdee said the transmission of a 500 kilovolts from the Hongsa lignite power plant in northern Laos was interrupted.
This resulted in a blackout in some areas of the northern, northeastern and central regions.
The electricity was cut off at 1.06pm but supply was resumed at 1.55pm, when feeds from power plants in Wang Noi district in Ayutthaya, Bang Pakong in Chachoengsao and the South Bangkok plant in Samut Prakan were brought into the grid, Mr Saharath said.
