SAMUT PRAKAN: An employee of a firm providing a limousine service at Suvarnabhumi airport has been arrested and charged with theft at the airport.
Noppadol Wipha, 43, was nabbed on Tuesday night and a stolen iPhone 7 seized from him on the second floor of the airport’s passenger terminal, said Pol Capt Paisarn Veerakitpanit, an investigation officer at Suvarnabhumi airport police station.
The arrest came after a 19-year-old woman from Mongolia, Khulan Onolbaatar, filed a complaint with police at the airport on Monday morning. She said her iPhone 7 had been stolen while she was repacking her belongings in the passenger waiting area on the first floor of the passenger terminal. She had put the mobile phone on a seat next to her, and it vanished.
Police examined footage of closed circuit television cameras installed in the area and saw a man wearing a limousine service uniform taking the iPhone at 5.13am, Pol Capt Paisarn said.
Mr Noppadol was detained and confessed to the theft, according to police. He said he took it to his room in Bangkok’s Lat Krabang district, where he removed and threw away the SIM card.
Police took him to the room and found the stolen phone. The suspect was charged with theft at the airport.
