The National Legislative Assembly pushed through three bills Thursday that will increase the salaries and allowances for members of independent bodies, the Constitutional Court and the Office of the Attorney-General.
The first bill pertains to the salary and allowance hike for chiefs and members of the Election Commission (EC), the Office of the Ombudsman, the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), the Office of the Auditor-General (OAG) and National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
Under the bill, the monthly salary of the bodies' chiefs will increase from 74,420 baht to 81,920 baht, and their allowance from 45,500 baht to 50,000 baht.
The salary of members will climb from 73,240 baht to 80,540 baht, but their allowance will be kept unchanged at 42,500 baht.
The second bill will see the the court's president salary rise to 83,090 baht from 75,590 baht, while the allowance will rise to 55,000 baht, up from 50,000 baht.
Constitutional Court judges will be entitled to 81,920 baht in salary and 50,000 baht in allowance, up from 73,240 baht and 42,500 baht, respectively.
The third bill will raise the attorney-general's salary to 81,920 baht and allowance to 50,000 baht, up from 73,240 baht and 42,500 baht, respectively.
The pay raises are to retroactively take effect from Oct 1, 2014, except for NHRC members, who will receive the increase retroactively from Oct 1, 2005.
