CHON BURI: A South Korean man, 51, fell to his death from a hotel in Pattaya beach town early on Tuesday morning.

The man's naked body was found by a security guard among bushes near the wall of  KTK Royal Residence in tambon Nong Prue in Bang Lamung district around 5.30am, said Pol Lt Chonawit Athipansee, deputy investigation chief at Pattaya police station.

A pair of boxer shorts was found on a tree branch near the wall. Police cordoned off the area, Thai media reported. The man's name was withheld pending notification of relatives.

Security guard Wiroj Samart, 42, told police the man had been staying in a room on the sixth floor of the hotel.

Mr Wiroj said he had heard a loud noise, like a large object falling to the ground. He checked around the building, but initially found nothing.

Then he noticed a pipe attached to the wall looked to have been moved out of place. He went closer to check it and found the man lying unconscious in the bushes. He immediately alerted police.

Police were investigating whether the death was an accident, suicide or murder.
