A tattooed man of unknown nationality was killed by a Bangkok-bound train in Bangkok's Don Muang district on Wednesday morning, leaving parts of his head and one foot scattered on rail tracks,

The body of the man, aged around 30 and wearing a yellow shirt and black trousers, was found shortly after 7am, said Pol Capt Theppitak Sinsip, a duty-officer at Don Muang police station.

The body was about 300 metres from a wooden barrier near the Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services depot on Kamphaeng Phet 6 Road in Don Muang,

A rapid train No.140 headed from Ubon Ratchathani to Bangkok had stopped a short distance away.

The man's pockets contained 480 baht, but no identifying documents were found on the body, which had a dragon tattoo on the back. The face and left foot were missing, Thai media reported, but were found about 3 metres away on the tracks after officials moved the train.

The body and body parts were removed from the tracks so the train could continue running.

Officers were investigating, said Pol Capt Theppitak, and the train driver and other staff would be called for questioning,

Authorities were to send the body to Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital’s forensic institute for a post-mortem examination, and planned to contact embassies to help identify the deceased.
