A major drug dealer selling narcotics in a community behind a Bangkok temple in Don Muang district has been arrested.

Crime Suppression Division police apprehended Nukul Nopthanya, 34, at his house in the community behind Wat Weluwanaram on Saturday.

The suspect was wanted on a warrant approved by the Criminal Court on April 29 for colluding in possessing crystal methamphetamine with intent to sell.

CSD police alleged Mr Nukul had sold illicit drugs in the community for a long time. A criminal record showed the suspect had earlier been caught six times on drug charges.

In April this year, Don Muang police were sent to arrest him but he managed to flee. Only a small number of illicit drugs were found inside his house. The officers then sought court approval for the arrest of the suspect.

Mr Nukul was also accused of being a call scammer. On June 5, Thong Lor police received a complaint from people falling victim to a  phone-call scamming gang. The investigation found one of the bank accounts to which the money had been transferred belonged to Mr Nukul, said police.

The suspect confessed to all charges. He was handed over to Don Muang police station for legal action.
