Thai students clinch 1 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze medals in Tel Aviv

78 countries took part at International Physics Olympiad 2019

Five Thai students, all from Triam Udomsuksa School in Bangkok, won one gold, three silver and one bronze medals in the 50th International Physics Olympiad 2019 held July 7-15 in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The gold medalist is Thanawat Sornvanee; silver medalists Passakorn Pothanan, Pannathorn Panya and Siripong Chayanopparat; and bronze medalist Yanpatra Pinitpichitkul.

The five were sent by the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPTST) to represent Thailand in the contest.

A total of 360 students from 78 countries/territories took part in the competition. They were accompanied by 151 instructors and 75 observers.

The highest overall scorer in the competition is China's Xiangkai Sun, who is also the best theoretical scorer.

The best experimental scorer is Yifan Sun, also from China.

The Thai students and their handlers are scheduled to return to Thailand on July 16 via Suvarnabhumi airport by Flight TG 4584 at 2.10pm.
