KHON KAEN: Police on Monday returned 20 stolen cars offered for sale on social media to their real owners, after the vehicles were seized in northeastern provinces.

The Provincial Police Region 4 Office handed back the cars after the owners, who had reported them stolen, showed clear evidence of ownership to the authorities.

Seven of the cars had false registrations plates when they were recovered. Four had Bangkok plates. All were found in northeastern provinces.

Pol Lt Gen Suracha Kuantechakupt, chief of the Region 4 police, said investigators tracked the missing vehicles from Facebook, Line and other websites selling used cars. Some were priced at less than 200,000 baht, he added.
