PRACHIN BURI: A woman pretending to be a customer ran away with a necklace and a bracelet from a gold shop in Si Mahaphot district of this eastern Central province on Saturday afternoon.

Puwanat Ansen, owner of Mae Luan 6 gold shop, told police that the good-looking woman aged about 30-35 arrived in a bronze-coloured car and entered the shop.

She first asked to see a two-baht weight gold necklace. After taking a close look at it, she asked to see another piece, a two-baht bracelet. With the two gold ornaments in her hand, she suddenly ran out of the shop's front door and hopped into her car.

Mr Puwanat said he gave chase and managed to smash two side windows of the car with an iron chair, but the woman sped away in the direction of the Khok Khwang intersection.

Police examined footage from security cameras in the area before launching a search. She was still at large.
