'Alcohol poisoning' took Lunlabelle's life

Extreme intoxication caused the death of Thitima Noraphanpiphat -- a young woman better known as Lunlabelle -- after preliminary results of an autopsy found her blood alcohol concentration level to be 418 milligrammes per 100 millilitres, police said yesterday.

Samrit Tongtao, the commander of Metropolitan Police Division 8, revealed the findings of the autopsy yesterday, saying that Thitima died of alcohol poisoning. No other substance or "fluids" were found and there was no evidence of any assault.

The 25-year-old product presenter was found dead last Tuesday morning in the lobby of a condominium building in the Talat Phlu area where her co-worker Rachadech "Nam Oun" Wongthabutr lives.

Security camera footage showed Mr Rachadech entering the building last Monday evening with the apparently unconscious Thitima as he took her up to his room on the sixth floor. A few hours later, he was seen carrying her back into the lobby and placing her on the sofa.

Mr Rachadech told police that he and Thitima were at a house party earlier in Bang Bua Thong district in Nonthaburi where she was paid to serve drinks. Mr Rachadech admitted to taking her to his room but said they were both drunk and that nothing had occurred there.

Pol Maj Gen Samrit refused yesterday to say if Mr Rachadech was the only suspect but added that more people would be arrested if the evidence justified it.

Meanwhile, house owner Chaiyaphon Panna yesterday met police to clarify that he did not stroke Thitima's face during the party after a video clip showed she was touched by a "hand" with a gold watch with a metallic strap. He denied the watch belonged to him, and pointed out that his watch has a brown strap.

"It's Nam Oun's watch," he said. "I've grown long nails, but they're short in the clip." Mr Rachadech was seen wearing a black watch in the security camera footage at his condominium while he and Thitima were in the lift together.

"That's because he changed watches," Mr Chaiyaphon explained.

Mr Rachadech had worn a gold watch to the party but the watch had a metallic strap which was damaged when Mr Rachadech helped him when he stumbled and almost fell into the toilet, Mr Chaiyaphon said.
