Cops nab huge meth haul after chase

Nakhon Ratchasima: Police seized 320kg of crystal methamphetamine or ya ice worth about 320 million baht following a car chase with drug traffickers in Dan Khun Thot district on Thursday.

Pol Col Charoonkiat Pankaew, deputy commander of the Highway Police Division, said police received a tip-off about the traffickers being on the Dan Khun Thot-Chai Badan road in tambon Huay Bong of Dan Khun Thot district.

Police spotted a Bangkok-registered pickup truck and tried to stop it. The vehicle sped through a checkpoint, sparking a chase. The traffickers in the truck later drove the vehicle into shubbery and fled.

Police found 320kg of ya ice packed in large sacks hidden in the rear of the vehicle. Police believe the drugs were picked up in Nong Khai province after arriving from a neighbouring country. Police suspect the drugs were destined for a third country.
