Pattaya police hand out Xmas chocolate

PATTAYA: Tourist police stepped up patrols in crime-prone areas and handed out gift chocolate bars to ensure tourists enjoyed Christmas night in this resort city.

Pol Maj Gen Worapong Thongpaibul, commander of Tourist Police Division 1, led the effort by police and volunteers on Walking Street in South Pattaya on Wednesday night.

"Tourist police in Pattaya were deployed at crime-prone locations as a deterrant to criminals and to assist  tourists. Business operators were also asked to be good hosts and make a good impression," he said.

Tourist police and volunteers also handed out about 1,000 chocolate bars and other gifts to tourists, he said
