The opposition has submitted a censure debate motion to Parliament President Chuan Leekpai, targeting Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and five other ministers.

The opposition camp, led by Pheu Thai Party leader Sompong Amornwiwat, filed the no-confidence motion with Mr Chuan on Friday.

The six targets of the debate are: Gen Prayut, Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam, Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda, Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, and Deputy Agriculture and Cooperative Minister Thammanat Prompow.

Mr Sompong said the opposition had sufficient and clear evidence to grill the six cabinet ministers.

He denied reports the opposition had made a deal with Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob, who is not among the listed ministers.

Earlier, a source in the opposition said Gen Prayut and eight cabinet ministers would be the targets of the censure motion.

According to the source, Gen Prawit stands accused of price-fixing procurement projects by security agencies.

Gen Prayut will face questions over the government's failure to tackle key issues including economic problems, while Mr Wissanu will be grilled for allegedly undermining the rule of law.
