NAKHON PHANOM: Twenty-two Thais who returned home from working in Laos have been released after undergoing 14 days of quarantine.

Jinnapipat Chupanya, head of the provincial public health office, said the 22 returned via the 3rd Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge linking Nakhon Phanom and Khammouane province of Laos on April 7.

They were placed at the learning centre of the Rubber Authority of Thailand at Ban Dong Chok in tambon Nong Yat, Muang district. None showed symptoms of being infected with Covid-19.

Dr Jinnapipat said the 22 were allowed to go home yesterday after an official ceremony.

The bridge was closed from March 22 as a precaution against Covid-19, but people transporting goods are still allowed to cross.

The province has recorded two infections. One has recovered.

Since March 22, 10,002 people have returned to Nakhon Phanom from other areas and gone into self-isolation under close observation. Of them, 7,432 have completed the period and 2,570 are still under observation.
