NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: A dead bottlenose dolphin and two injured hawksbill sea turtles were found washed ashore in Hua Sai district of this southern province on Tuesday.

Pithani Yodsurang, of a local network for saving rare marine life, said the dead dolphin, about 1.50 metres long, was found on the beach at Ban Hua Rong in tambon Ko Phet.

The two hawksbill turtles,  one weighing about 8 kilogrammes and the other about 6kg, were found on a beach near Moo 6 in tambon Ko Phet. They had injuries indicating they had been trapped in a fishing net.

Officials from a coastal resources research centre had buried the dolphin, for later further examination, and taken the two hurt turtles for treatment before releasing them back into the sea.
