240,000 seek jobs at expo

The three-day Job Expo Thailand 2020 ended yesterday with more than 240,000 people applying for job vacancies and waiting for job interviews.

Labour Minister Suchat Chomklin said the expo had been popular among new graduates and the unemployed with more than 120,000 people visiting Bitec Bang Na. People are also urged to apply for jobs through online channels. Mr Suchat said the fair was initiated by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to help Thais hit by the Covid-19 slump.

He said yesterday 70 state and private bodies would soon be posting up to 1.3 million job opportunities. The Labour Ministry also launched a co-payment project where the government will share half of a new graduate's salary with employers.
