The public is invited to wear yellow and attend nationwide ceremonies on Tuesday to mark the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great.
King Bhumibol passed away on Oct 13, 2016, at Siriraj Hospital. He was 89. Oct 13 is His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great Memorial Day.
Lt Gen Santipong Thammapiya, deputy chief of staff of the army and spokesman, said army units and local communities nationwide will hold merit-making rites and take part in community services that day to pay homage to the late king.
He said the public is invited to take part and is encouraged to wear yellow, King Bhumibol's birthday colour.
The activities will be held at 36 venues and start simultaneously at 10am, Lt Gen Santipong said, adding army commander Gen Narongphan Jitkaewtae will preside over the ceremony in Bangkok.
The army will also deploy mobile kitchens, he added.
