PATTANI: A villager was shot by a motorcycle gunman in Sai Buri district and a man was found shot dead in a coconut plantation Nong Chik district on Monday morning.
The first incident occurred about 6.35am, Pol Capt Aniwat Khopphet, a Sai Buri police investigator, said.
According to witnesses, Apichart Thongkhamsri, 49, from Panare district, was riding a motorcycle along a road in tambon Sai Buri when he was followed by two men on another motorcycle. The pillion rider opened fire at him with a handgun.
Mr Apichart was hit and wounded. He was rushed to Sai Buri Crown Prince Hospital. The two men fled after the attack.
Nong Chik police were informed about 6.30am that a man was found dead in a coconut plantation near Sai Mo village in tambon Bang Khao with a gunshot to the body. He was identified as Muhamad Afid Chelo, 25.
Police were investigating both incidents.
