AYUTTHAYA: Authorities have prepared buildings at two state universities for use as a rehabilitation centre and a field hospital for Covid-19 patients.

Governor Phanu Yaemsri said on Tuesday that the province had accumulated 39 cases as of midnight, with 22 of the infected patients already recovered and 17 remaining in hospital.

The provincial committee on disease control had recently met and agreed to set up a rehabilitation centre for Covid-19 patients at U-Thong 6 dormitory building at Ayutthaya Rajabhat University.

The three-storey building had 30 rooms with 60 beds, the governor said. A fence was put up around the building to separate it from other areas of the state university.

The committee also prepared a conference hall of Rajamangala University of Technology Suvannabhumi in tambon Hantra of Ayutthaya’s Phra Nakhon Si Ayuttaya campus for use as a field hospital.

The conference hall, covering 4,290 square metres, could accommodate 375 beds, Mr Phanu said.

Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya municipal workers were on Tuesday deployed to spray disinfectant on U-Thong Road, communities, markets and historical temples in this central province.
